History
Range
The range comprises the
Wärtsilä-Sulzer RT-flex96-C turbocharged two-stroke diesel engine which is one of the most powerful and most efficient prime-mover in the world as of 2005, with cylinder bores of 960 mm (37.8 in) and stroke of 2500 mm (98.4 in), producing up to 80,080 kW (107,400 hp) in the 14-cylinder configuration.
These engines are used to propel the world's largest container ship of the company AP Moller Maersk.
The vessels are known as the E-class ships.
Emma Maersk was the first.
Wartsila also builds many different engines, including the popular V-18 and V-20 engines used in many power plants. These engines produce from 6-10
MW of electricity each.

- Operating result: €379 million (10.1% higher than year 2006)
- Personnel at the end of 2007: 16,000
